Information for Adjustments

First thing’s first: this research discusses the adjustment using the term osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). This can be considered to be the same thing. There is no difference. In fact, for those in the audience that are strictly of the medical and osteopath mindset, it should, in your mind, legitimize the chiropractic adjustment for you from the start since doctors of osteopaths learned spinal and joint manipulation in their respective schools also.

I’ve said it before but I’m just happy research has caught up with what we chiropractors have known for so many years and has given us power and knowledge against those that have been borderline hateful against our noble profession for so long. With the mountains of research proving chiropractic’s efficiency, safety, and effectiveness, they no longer have a platform from which to be bullies.

Why Did They Do It?

They wanted to test spinal manipulation in low back pain to see how effective it is as a complementary treatment.

How Did They Do It?

  • They used searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE, MANTIS, OSTMED, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.
  • Identified six trials that had studies of eight blinded, controlled trials of OMT of low back disorder.
  • They used two independent reviewers to assess the information.
  • The trials included spinal manipulation vs. active treatment (i.e., traditional medical treatment) or placebo control.

What Did They Find?

  • Spinal manipulation showed significant results in reducing low back pain.
  • Significant reduction of pain whether the study was performed in the United Kingdom or the United States.
  • Significant pain reduction at ALL points of follow-up: short term, mid-term, and long-term

Wrap Up

Spinal manipulation, AGAIN, is shown to be superior in reducing low back pain. It was even MORE effective than the researchers expected.

Just another reason to call a chiropractor TODAY!

Research and clinical experience shows that, in about 80%-90% of headaches, neck, and back pain, in comparison to the traditional medical model, patients get good or excellent results with Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is safe, more cost-effective, it decreases your chances of having surgery, and it reduces your chances of becoming disabled. We do this conservatively and non-surgically. In addition, we can do it with minimal time requirements and minimal hassle on the part of the patient. And, if the patient develops a “preventative” mindset going forward from initial recovery, we can likely keep it that way while raising your general, overall level of health!

Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

And….SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!! We cannot make a difference without your help.
