I review many medical sites and when the topic turns to Chiropractic, there is a faction of the medical field that is very much against chiropractors and/or the use of our services. Some of this is simply old dogma from the days that the American Medical Association went on a rampage and tried to rid the world of Chiropractic.

Fortunately, Doctors of Chiropractic and their patients fought back. Yet, as mentioned, some of the dogma remains. To be fair, relations between the two professions have improved leaps and bounds. Make no mistake. It is now common to be referred to a chiropractor by your primary care provider for musculoskeletal complaints. It is VERY common for chiropractors to refer to medical doctors. We refer out weekly in our practice.

To make a long story even longer, the faction that is very anti-chiropractic claims there is no research showing the benefits of spinal manipulation in cases of neck pain and, even it there is some minor help, the risks don’t outweigh the benefits.

Let me just say this, “They’re wrong.”

Whew…that feels better. They’re just wrong in so many ways and on so many different levels. Here is a great paper that came out in 2010 showing their errors in judgement.

WHY THEY DID IT
Stated above

HOW THEY DID IT
Based on systematic reviews of only RANDOMIZED clinical trials. (The research Gold Standard basically)
The trials had to be widely accepted and primarily UK and USA based guidelines used.

WHAT THE FOUND

  • Spinal manipulation/mobilization is effective in adults for the following:
  • Acute, subacute, and chronic low back pain
  • Migraines
  • Cervicogenic headaches
  • Cervicogenic dizziness
  • Several extremity joint conditions
  • Acute or subacute neck pain

When we consider that Chiropractic is the safest form of healthcare on the planet, I’d say we have a “no-brainer” here.

Gert Bronfort, Mitch Haas, Roni Evans, Brent Leininger and Jay Triano, “Effectiveness of manual therapies: the UK evidence report” Chiropractic & Osteopathy 2010, 18:3

Just another reason to call a chiropractor TODAY

Research and clinical experience shows that, in about 80%-90% of headaches, neck, and back pain, in comparison to the traditional medical model, patients get good or excellent results with Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is safe, more cost-effective, it decreases your chances of having surgery, and it reduces your chances of becoming disabled.  We do this conservatively and non-surgically. In addition, we can do it with minimal time requirements and minimal hassle on the part of the patient. And, if the patient develops a “preventative” mindset going forward from initial recovery, we can likely keep it that way while raising your general, overall level of health!

We have seen time and time again the amazing effectiveness of chiropractic for issues such as neck out of alignment, hips out of alignment, back alignment, lower back alignment hip out of alignment, back out of alignment, etc… We have just about seen it all.

Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

And….SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!   We cannot make a difference without your help.

Till next time……
