Considering the fact that our knees are failing as we age and that the number of knee replacement surgeries continues to rise, it is important to find a way to reduce symptoms that can help alleviate knee discomfort.

This paper shows some real promise for Cold Laser therapy, also known as Low Level Laser (LLL).

It’s also important to know and understand that many Doctors of Chiropractic offer Cold Laser therapy in their offices. It only takes 5 minutes on average per area of treatment and is very cost effective. Also of importance; this study is for osteoarthritis of the knee alone. However, Cold Laser therapy is useful in the treatment of MANY complaints such as sprains or strains, inflammation, and pain in general.

It’s so effective that professional sports teams are employing its use every day. It’s top-of-the-line treatment for their athletes.

Why They Did It
Osteoarthritis (OA) is more and more common in elderly and commonly leads to disability. Can Cold Laser help to either avoid surgery or lessen the symptoms?

How They Did It

  • 18 patients with osteoarthritis in the knee
  • They were treated with LLL three times a week for 12 sessions
  • Patient results were tracked using SPSS ver. 15.

What They Found

  • A clinically significant reduction was seen regarding pain at night.
  • A clinically significant reduction was seen regarding pain while walking.
  • A clinically significant reduction was seen regarding pain while going up stairs.
  • A clinically significant reduction in the size of the knee.

Wrap Up
The authors reported that Cold Laser (LLL) was in fact effective in reducing pain in knee osteoarthritis.

Just another reason to call a chiropractor TODAY

Research and clinical experience shows that, in about 80%-90% of headaches, neck, and back pain, in comparison to the traditional medical model, patients get good or excellent results with Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is safe, more cost-effective, it decreases your chances of having surgery, and it reduces your chances of becoming disabled.  We do this conservatively and non-surgically. In addition, we can do it with minimal time requirements and minimal hassle on the part of the patient. And, if the patient develops a “preventative” mindset going forward from initial recovery, we can likely keep it that way while raising your general, overall level of health!

We have seen time and time again the amazing effectiveness of chiropractic for issues such as neck out of alignment, hips out of alignment, back alignment, lower back alignment hip out of alignment, back out of alignment, etc… We have just about seen it all.

Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

And….SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!   We cannot make a difference without your help.

Till next time……
