What Wikipedia Won’t Tell You About Chiropractic

Happy female patient of chiropractic care

Patient Satisfaction. What exactly does that mean to you? Does that mean that you are feeling much better? Does that mean that you like the doctor? Does patient satisfaction mean that you were given very specific instructions and solid leadership about your treatment goals and protocols?

I think the answer is, “Yes.” Yes to all of the above.

The research we’re highlighting here does not necessarily have to do with whether a patient got better results from chiropractic when compared to some other form of treatment. There are plenty of other research papers proving that fact. However, it does speak to the fact that patients tend to be more satisfied with treatment and instruction given from a chiropractic physician.

Why They Did It

The authors wanted to attempt to understand differences in the level of patient satisfaction for patients that attended treatment with a chiropractor compared to those treated by a medical practitioner.

How They Did It

  • They measured standard satisfaction scores at the 4-week post-treatment point.
  • They used 672 randomized patients.

What They Found

The satisfaction scores for patients treated by the chiropractor were greater.

Wrap It Up

They said, “Communication of advice and information to patients with low back pain increases their satisfaction with providers and accounts for much of the difference between chiropractic and medical patients’ satisfaction.”

Hertzman-Miller R, et. al. “Comparing the Satisfaction of Low Back Pain Patients Randomized to Receive Medical or Chiropractic Care: Results From the UCLA Low-Back Pain Study” Am J Public Health 2002 October; 92(10): 1628-1633

Just another reason to call a chiropractor TODAY!

Research and clinical experience shows that, in about 80%-90% of headaches, neck, and back pain, in comparison to the traditional medical model, patients get good or excellent results with Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is safe, more cost-effective, it decreases your chances of having surgery, and it reduces your chances of becoming disabled. We do this conservatively and non-surgically. In addition, we can do it with minimal time requirements and minimal hassle on the part of the patient. And, if the patient develops a “preventative” mindset going forward from initial recovery, we can likely keep it that way while raising the general, overall level of health! Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

And….SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!! We cannot make a difference without your help.

Till next time……
