Why Have Over 40 Million Americans Tried Chiropractic? Part Five

Monday, January 19th, 2015
Last week, we dealt with neck pain. This week, we deal with HEADACHES.

I have posted at least 4 or 5 research blogs in the past having to do with the effectiveness of Chiropractic in regard to headaches, migraines, tension headaches, etc.. There simply is no longer any doubt as the the efficacy of manipulative therapy for headaches. No doubt.

Again, this series is based on information provided to me personally by Mr. George McAndrews. Mr. McAndrews was the lead counsel in the Wilk vs. AMA case and won that case with his considerable skill but also these great resources that I will continue sharing with you throughout this series. These blog topics and research findings are all part of a wonderful article in Dynamic Chiropractic that Mr. McAndrews wrote. You can read that article here.

The research abstract that I received from Mr. McAndrews was the following:

2001 – Duke University Evidence-based Practice Center Report
Researchers at Duke University evaluated the scientific research on different treatments for common types of headaches and concluded that:

“Manipulation appeared to result in immediate improvement in headache severity when used to treat episodes of cervicogenic headache when compared with an attention-placebo control. Furthermore, when compared to soft-tissue therapies (massage), a course of manipulation treatments resulted in sustained improvement in headache frequency and severity.”
Duke University Evidence-based Practice Center. Behavioral and physical treatments for tension-type and cervicogenic headache. Des Moines, IA: Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research;2001.

I just want to focus quickly on the fact that this is research that was performed at DUKE UNIVERSITY. You don’t have to take my word for it.

Here are links to my previous blogs citing research abstracts demonstrating the amazingly positive effects of chiropractic for headaches of all kinds

RESEARCH: How Effective is Manual and Manipulative Therapy in Tension Headache Treatment?

  • Both manual AND manipulative therapy when combined or used alone showed to be effective in tension-type headache treatments.

Chiropractic is Effective for MIGRAINES

  • Chiropractic has shown through research to have significant effectiveness in treatment of migraines. In this study, 83% of participants reported stress as a major factor in their migraines and it seems that chiropractic care is able to reduce that stress as well as treat the upper neck region specifically.

This blog was inspired by an article in Dynamic Chiropractic found at: http://www.dynamicchiropractic.com/mpacms/dc/crr/article.php?id=700

Research: Chiropractic Effective for Headaches and Migraines

  • Moderate evidence that SMT has significantly more effectiveness than massage in cervicogenic headaches.
  • SMT has effect comparable to common prescription medications for tension and migraine headaches.

Brontfort G, et.al. and appeared in Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in September of 2001.

Chiropractors in Amarillo, Neck, & Headaches.

Just another reason to call a chiropractor TODAY

Research and clinical experience shows that, in about 80%-90% of headaches, neck, and back pain, in comparison to the traditional medical model, patients get good or excellent results with Chiropractic. Chiropractic care is safe, more cost-effective, it decreases your chances of having surgery, and it reduces your chances of becoming disabled.  We do this conservatively and non-surgically. In addition, we can do it with minimal time requirements and minimal hassle on the part of the patient. And, if the patient develops a “preventative” mindset going forward from initial recovery, we can likely keep it that way while raising your general, overall level of health!

Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think.

And….SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!   We cannot make a difference without your help.

Till next time……
